The Magic of Fireflies
and Dragonflies
Sue Studd brings a teacher’s curiosity and an artist’s eye to silver clay. Working in Suffolk, she builds jewellery around the small details of the natural world: a dragonfly’s wings, a leaf’s branching veins, the outline of a shell. Her background spans painting, textiles and primary teaching; today, she makes fine silver jewellery and shares the craft through hands-on workshops.

Sue trained as a primary teacher in London and often led art within her schools. After early retirement and a move to Suffolk, silver clay became a new direction for her creativity. She qualified as a Precious Metal Clay instructor in 2020, followed by Art Clay Diplomas at Levels 1 and 2 in 2022.
Her home studio also welcomes workshop participants. That connection between making and teaching continues through the jewellery and the practical sessions she offers.

Owls, stars, rabbits and toadstools share space in Sue’s more illustrative pieces. She uses layers and sculpted forms to create compositions within a pendant.
Moonstone, amethyst and other accents introduce colour alongside the silverwork. Some designs use cubic zirconia, fused glass or gold over silver; each product page explains its own materials.
