THE PERSON BEHIND THE PIECES
From photographs
to precious keepsakes.
After years in the photographic industry, Lauren understood how much a family photograph could mean. As photography became more digital, she missed making things with her hands. A conversation with her college technician, who was also a silversmith, led to a six-week beginners’ jewellery course.
From the first class, she was hooked. Shaping metal with hand tools brought back the hands-on creativity she had been looking for. Years of learning and making followed, and Elizabeth Designs, named after her middle name, took shape.
Lockets and photo jewellery came first: small keepsakes with space for a personal memory. Birthday necklaces followed, with rings that might stand for decades, family members or lifelong friendships. For Lauren, hearing the story behind a piece is part of the pleasure of making it.
